Moshi iGlaze 3G Cover

I have been using the Griffin Wave Case for iPhone 3G. I really liked this case as the back of the case is just beautifully designed with a wave pattern on the sides. It is made of a polycarbonate and has a hard silicon feel to it. It does not show any finger prints and does not seem to collect any dust like some of the other silicon cases I tried. Also you can still see the Apple logo through the case on the back which I thought was cool.

Only downside to this case was it was a little bulky and covered much of your iPhone. However, I dropped my iPhone recently and this case saved my iPhone from any damage or scratches. Unfortunately, the case now looks a little worn. Yesterday I picked up a new case, the iGlaze 3G Cover from Moshi. A friend of mine got the new iPhone 3GS from work and it came with the iGlaze. Good to see businesses are issuing iPhones not just Blackberrys.

The iGlaze is a cover for the back of your iPhone and comes in five colours but the store I purchased it from only had black and white. It includes a glossy film for the iPhone screen. The reason I like this cover is that it has a matte finish and a slim fit. Also it has a light texture to the cover. All the buttons on your iPhone are accessible and not covered including the Apple logo on the back of your iPhone. I am going with this case fully knowing that if I drop my iPhone there will be some collateral damage as sleek and light for a cover does not always translate to complete scratch prevention.

Power Support Anti-Glare Film

I decided to change the Power Support Crystal Film on my iPhone as I felt it needed an update. I had a spare film set but only the Anti-Glare Film version. I was skeptical about the anti-glare coating as I was worried that it might take away from the screen’s clarity. Little did I know I would be ecstatic about the anti-glare. It gives the screen a great texture and smudges are not easily seen. Also when you swiping back and forth, the texture of the anti-glare film has a nice grip to it making it easier to scroll.

Being my second time applying the film to my iPhone, I did a much better job of it. The first time I had problems with airborne lint and also bubbles under the film. It just was not an easy experience. This time I meticulously followed the instructions. I first cleaned my iPhone with a glass or screen cleaner to remove any fingerprints and smudges. If you look at the iPhone’s screen at an angle under light this will help you see if the screen is perfectly cleaned. I used Monster ScreenClean which is also great to clean your Mac screen and your TV. It comes with a non-static cloth.

Next I placed the supplied white film over the iPhone screen to remove any dust particles. Ensure you rub the white film down to capture all of the dust and lint particles. After removing the white film, I applied the anti-glare film starting at the Home button end of the iPhone for alignment. I slowly unpeeled the film over the screen from the film’s backing and using my index finger to swipe across the screen to ensure no bubbles are left under the film. I found that if a bubble cannot be removed you need to lift the film from the iPhone’s screen. In this case you can use the edge of the plastic backing that the film came on, to slowly lift the film up, as you do not want to touch the adhesive side of the film.

I’d be interested to hear about your experiences putting on the film on your iPhone.
