Whistler Blackcomb Live App

Whistler_black_live_app
The ski season is here and the snow at Whistler and Blackcomb has been incredible. The week I was there it snowed 7-12 cm each day. Best of all I downloaded the Whistler Blackcomb Live App for iPhone and it's awesome. You can track your season Edge Card passes, when you use them and how many you have left. The App has lift status, snow conditions, weather status, weather cams and best of all using GPS it can track every run. The run tracker tracks speed, vertical, distance and shows each run on a map. I have not been able to put the App down even when I am not skiing so I can see the conditions on the mountains and look forward to my next trip. So have you tried out the Whistler Blackcomb Live App?

Tips on How to Optimize Your iPhone 4S Video

National_geographic_iphone_4s_hd_video

If you spend any time watching adventure videos and films, then you know Camp 4 Collective. The powerhouse production team includes some of the world's best climber-photographers—Jimmy Chin, Renan Ozturk, and Tim Kemple, shooting in the world's most extreme, least seen places

Recently, Camp 4 conducted an experiment to understand stabilization and optimization when dealing with low light when shooting with an iPhone 4S. As Kemple indicates it's the perfect camera when you on the mountain, no setup and no setting down your backpack. So they shot a music video on the iPhone 4S. While normally this would sound like a waste of time for filmmakers of their expertise, that was not the case. Shooting on the iPhone 4S, with its 8-megapixel camera and 1080p hi-def video, the team produced great results.

Tim Kemple mentioned as amazing as the new camera on the 4S is, iOS5 really let them play with the camera in ways they couldn't before. The new iOS let them lock focus, exposure and white balance. That really let them control the look of the footage they were getting. They edited the video using Final Cut Pro and the audio was created in Garageband. You can read the full article and interview at National Geographic Adeventure. So have you been taking HD video with your iPhone 4S, how have your results been?

Power Support iPhone Cover

I unexpectedly found the perfect iPhone 4S cover while browsing the iPhone covers at the Apple Store. I had reviewed a number of cases online but did not expect to find a cover from Power Support. It is simple, light weight and hardly noticeable when you place it on the back of your iPhone, it's under 1mm thick. The Power Support Black Air Jacket comes with two screen films. It also comes with Power Support's revolutionary self-healing coating that instantly repairs any minor scratches that may appear on the air jacket.

iPhone Personal Hot Spot

Personal_hotspot
We had a huge wind storm today and the power went out for almost two hours. It’s amazing how dependent we are on electricity. Without any power I had no access to a land line, Internet, TV and any data on my Time Capsules. Luckily, I keep my iPhone 4GS fully charged and by using the Personal Hot Spot feature located in settings I was able to get Internet access on my MacBook Air using my iPhone’s data plan.

To enable your iPhone as a 3G modem you go to Settings > Personal Hot Spot and turn on the Personal Hotspot option. You will also see a Wi-Fi password below the Personal Hotspot option. On your Mac you will then see  the name of your iPhone as a network under Wi-Fi. Select your iPhone network and enter the password from your Personal Hotspot. Once connected you now have Internet access on your Mac. It’s a pretty cool feature and you can use it anytime while you are on the go. See Apple Support iOS: Understanding Personal Hotspot.

iPhone 4S First Weekend Sales Top Four Million

Iphone4s
Last friday, October 14, the iPhone 4S became official and crowds lined up outside Apple Retail Stores and Wireless Carriers to get their hands on one. I on the other hand chose to pre-order an iPhone 4S online instead of fighting the crowds. However, I am still waiting for my iPhone 4S which according to the pre-order status page and emails I have been getting, should arrive any day now. In the meantime Apple announced they sold 4 million units over the past weekend. That's incredible! So have you pre-ordered an iPhone 4S? Here is a snippet of Apple's announcement of the record pre-orders:

CUPERTINO, California—October 17, 2011— Apple® today announced it has sold over four million of its new iPhone® 4S, just three days after its launch on October 14. In addition, more than 25 million customers are already using iOS 5, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, in the first five days of its release, and more than 20 million customers have signed up for iCloud®, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices. iPhone 4S is available today in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK, and will be available in 22 more countries on October 28 and more than 70 countries by the end of the year. “iPhone 4S is off to a great start with more than four million sold in its first weekend—the most ever for a phone and more than double the iPhone 4 launch during its first three days,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “iPhone 4S is a hit with customers around the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever.”

iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Top One Million

I pre-ordered an iPhone 4S last week friday, the first day of pre-orders. Well it seems pre-orders of the iPhone 4S have topped one million in a single day, surpassing the previous single day pre-order record of 600,000 held by iPhone 4. Wow, that's amazing! I am sure a lot has to do with iPhone users who have the original iPhone and iPhone 3 wanting to upgrade in order to run iOS 5 and get a faster phone. So have you pre-ordered an iPhone 4S? Here is a snippet of Apple's announcement of the record pre-orders:

CUPERTINO, California—October 10, 2011—Apple® today announced pre-orders of its iPhone® 4S have topped one million in a single day, surpassing the previous single day pre-order record of 600,000 held by iPhone 4. iPhone 4S is the most amazing iPhone yet, packed with incredible new features including Apple’s dual-core A5 chip for blazing fast performance and stunning graphics; an all new camera with advanced optics; full 1080p HD resolution video recording; and Siri™, an intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking.“We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”

iPhone 4S Pre-Ordered

Media_http4bpblogspot_nnzak
The iPhone 3, I am currently using has been painful to use over the last year. It's performance has been sluggish since updating to iOS 3 and it slowed down even further after updating to iOS 4. With the imminent release of iOS 5 which only runs on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and now the iPhone 4S, I decided to pre-order an iPhone 4S. What also forced me to upgrade is the release of iCloud, which only syncs with iOS 5 and is a replacement of MobileMe. If you have a me.com email address you will need to transition it from MobileMe to iCloud by June 30, 2012.

I pre-orderd an iPhone 4S from Rogers on friday morning and I was number 2802 in the queue. I just logged in today and I am now 2726.  Wow I have a long way to go! Can't wait to get the 4GS so that I can retire the snail paced iPhone 3. I'll probably use it as an iPod Touch in my car to play music. So are you planning to upgrade, have you pre-ordered an iPhone 4S. Let us know.

Media_http2bpblogspot_scbfw
Today, Apple announced the iPhone 4S, which did not come in a new iPhone skeleton as expected but came packed with new features.  The iPhone 4S now comes with Apple’s dual-core A5 chip used in the iPad 2 which has up to 2X faster performance and 7X faster graphics. The iPhone 4S also comes with an all new 8 megapixel camera with advanced optics and full 1080p HD resolution video recording. New to the iPhone and only available in the iPhone 4S is an intelligent personal assistant called Siri, the company they bought in May last year. Siri helps you get things done just by asking using natural language. Can't wait to play with Siri! With the announcement, Apple also announced the launch of iOS 5 which has over 200 new features. In addition, Apple also announced iCloud, a complete replacement of MobileMe which has a set of free cloud services that work with your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push your content to all your devices.
