Apple recently released iTunes 10.6 whihc adds the ability to play 1080p HD movies and TV shows from the iTunes Store. This release also includes improvements for iTunes Match, including: improved song matching, improved album artwork handling, downloading and display. Apple today announced the new iPad 3, the third generation of its 9.7 inch tablet. The iPad 3 has a stunning new Retina display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5-megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics for capturing photos and 1080p HD video.The iPad 3 is also available with Wi-Fi + 4G to connect to 4G LTE networks. The iPad 3 will be available in the Apple Online Store and Apple Retail stores on Friday, March 16, beginning at $499 (US). You can begin pre-ordering the iPad 3 today on the Apple Online Store. Apple announced today that more than 25 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store. The 25 billionth app downloaded was a free app called, Where's My Water? It was downloaded by Chunli Fu of Qingdao, China. As the winner of the App Store Countdown to 25 Billion Apps, Chunli Fu received a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. Chunli, you lucky person! The App Store currentlyoffers more than 550,000 apps to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 123 countries around the world. Wow that's incredible Apple! So what's you favourite App, let us know?

Rather than using my credit card to pay for songs and apps on iTunes I usually use discounted gift cards. At the moment select stores are selling $50 iTunes gift cards for $45. To apply an iTunes gift card to your account, go to the iTunes Store and on the home page select the Redeem link from the Quick Links menu on the top right of the page. When prompted, enter the redeem code and your balance should be increased. Hopefully, you have a store in your area selling these discounted gift cards. That's a 10% discount on songs and apps. Let me know if you have come across other iTunes discounts out there?

Apple recently released a developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion. It is the ninth major release of OS X. Apple have brought over some of the popular apps and features from iPad to the Mac in Mountain Lion. The new OS X introduces Messages, Notes, Reminders and Game Center to Mac as well as Notification Center, Share Sheets, Twitter integration, and AirPlay Mirroring. The preview release of Mountain Lion is available to Mac Developer Program members. Mac users will be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store in late summer 2012. The ski season is here and the snow at Whistler and Blackcomb has been incredible. The week I was there it snowed 7-12 cm each day. Best of all I downloaded the Whistler Blackcomb Live App for iPhone and it's awesome. You can track your season Edge Card passes, when you use them and how many you have left. The App has lift status, snow conditions, weather status, weather cams and best of all using GPS it can track every run. The run tracker tracks speed, vertical, distance and shows each run on a map. I have not been able to put the App down even when I am not skiing so I can see the conditions on the mountains and look forward to my next trip. So have you tried out the Whistler Blackcomb Live App?

Apple announced its financial results for the fiscal 2012 first quarter today. It was another record breaking quarter. Apple posted record quarterly revenues of $46.33 billion and record quarterly net profitsof $13.06 billion. A 27 percent increase in iPhones sold from the same quarter a year ago. That is just over 37 million iPhones. Apple also sold 5.2 million Macs, 15.43 million iPads and 15.4 million iPods. Way to go Apple, we salute you! Here is the official release from Apple.

I re-purposed my old iPhone 3G as an iPod Touch for my daughter. However, sometimes when we out of wireless coverage she cannot access YouTube to view her kids music videos. Well there is a solution for this, you can download a YouTube video downloader to convert the streamed YouTube video file to an mp4 file which can then be added to iTunes and synced to your iPhone. It's a bit of work converting each YouTube video file but I can now control what she watches instead of her accessing YouTube related videos. There are a number of YouTube downloader applications, some that are plugins for you browser. The application I use is called the Fastest Video Downloader, it's available for Mac and PC and it's also a certified CNet download file. Let me know which application you use to download YouTube videos?

Apple's senior vice president of industrial design, Jonathan Ive, have been reported by BBC to have been placed on the list of people to be knighted this year. Ive described the honour as "absolutely thrilling" and said he was "both humbled and sincerely grateful". Per Apple's leadership page Jonathan Ive is London-born and is the senior vice president of Industrial Design at Apple, reporting directly to the CEO. Since 1996, he has been responsible for leading a design team widely regarded as one of the world’s best. According to Steve Jobs' biography by Walter Isaacson, Jobs confided that he had left Ive with "more operational power" than anyone else at the company. For me just opening the box of a new iPhone, iPad or Mac is an amazing experience, the design of box and it's contents is first class. Well done Jonathan you deserve being called Sir Ive. So what do you think about Apple's leadership team?

I have been struggling to figure out why the Cisco AnyConnect VPN on my MacBook Air stopped working a couple of months ago. Access from my iPhone and iPad were fine but from my MacBook Air, AnyConnect kept disconnecting. The Cisco support forum and Google search is only as good as the search criteria you enter. Well, finally I found the answer to this frustrating issue especially as I was planning to work remotely during the Christmas break.

The problem rears it's ugly head when you enable the "Back to my Mac" application in MobileMe or iCloud. Both the "Back to my Mac" and Cisco AnyConnect VPN use a virtual adapter with the same name "utun0". Since MobileMe or iCloud initiates when your Mac starts up, it grabs the utun0 interface first, causing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN to connect and then disconnect immediatly. I know many Mac users have had this same issue so hope this post helps. Have you had problems with the Cisco Anyconnect VPN?

Makes Christmas feel just so good, calm and peaceful. It's a great compliment to a good book and a glass of fine wine in front of the fireplace. Let's say it's brilliant!

If you spend any time watching adventure videos and films, then you know Camp 4 Collective. The powerhouse production team includes some of the world's best climber-photographers—Jimmy Chin, Renan Ozturk, and Tim Kemple, shooting in the world's most extreme, least seen places

Recently, Camp 4 conducted an experiment to understand stabilization and optimization when dealing with low light when shooting with an iPhone 4S. As Kemple indicates it's the perfect camera when you on the mountain, no setup and no setting down your backpack. So they shot a music video on the iPhone 4S. While normally this would sound like a waste of time for filmmakers of their expertise, that was not the case. Shooting on the iPhone 4S, with its 8-megapixel camera and 1080p hi-def video, the team produced great results.

Tim Kemple mentioned as amazing as the new camera on the 4S is, iOS5 really let them play with the camera in ways they couldn't before. The new iOS let them lock focus, exposure and white balance. That really let them control the look of the footage they were getting. They edited the video using Final Cut Pro and the audio was created in Garageband. In the latest Apple Christmas iPhone ad, Santa asks Siri for directions, the weather in different cities, email requests and even checks his appointments for the rest of day which amounts to 3.7 billion appointments. Just in time for the holidays, Apple opened its fifth Manhattan store at NYC's world-famous Grand Central Station this past Friday, December 9. I can't wait to make another trip to NYC to see the store.The store overlooks the historic main concourse and features two genius bars, entire rooms dedicated to personal setup and training and has 315 employees.
